Placenta Encapsulation

Why consider taking your placenta after birth?

Postpartum Depression and Mood Disorders are closely linked to the hormones and nutrients that are depleted during childbirth.

Taking the placenta is a natural method to replenish these lost nutrients, aiding in relieving pain and fatigue, preventing internal bleeding, fostering bonding, and reducing symptoms of Postpartum Depression.

What is the placenta encapsulation process?

As specialists in placenta encapsulation with certifications in Georgia Food Handler's Safety and Biologix Bloodborne Pathogen, we adhere to OSHA safety guidelines. Encapsulating one placenta at a time in a dedicated area, we use gloves and safety gear.

Following the Traditional Chinese Method, your placenta is drained, cleaned, and steamed with warming herbs like cinnamon, ginger, garlic, and lemon to enhance benefits. After steaming, it's thinly sliced and dehydrated before starting the encapsulation using all-natural vegetable capsules.

I also offer raw placenta methods without steaming if desired. Additionally, we can create placenta tincture, salve, smoothie cubes, chocolates, lollipops, dough balls, a placenta print, and an umbilical cord keepsake.

How long does it take?

Within 48–72 hours after birth, we will deliver your order along with a suggested dose and usage guide to either your home or the place of birth.

Methods of placenta encapsulation

I offer multiple ways to prepare your placenta for consumption.

My methods include capsules, tinctures, salve, smoothies, chocolates, dough balls, and lollipops. I also offer a keepsake umbilical cord and a placenta print on watercolor paper.

RAW Method

  • Placenta is NOT steamed prior to dehydration

  • Placenta fully dehydrated at 118 degrees

  • Dehydration takes approx. 14-24 hours

  • The RAW method is the most potent. It offers the highest iron content and the biggest energy boost. You will get the highest yield of capsules using this method.

  • This method is contraindicated for those with anxiety/depression (unrelated to pregnancy and postpartum) or who have a strong reaction/sensitivity to caffeine and other stimulants.

  • Average yield: 182 capsules*

Balanced Method

  • Placenta is NOT steamed prior to dehydration

  • Placenta fully dehydrated at 160 degrees

  • Dehydration takes approx. 8-14 hours

  • The Balanced method offers a more moderate flow of energy and hormones. Due to the high dehydration temperature, there is greater protection against bacteria.

  • Average yield: 157 capsules*

Subtle Method (Traditional Chinese Medicine-inspired)

  • Placenta is lightly steamed prior to dehydration with lemon, ginger, hot peppers and herbs (dietary restrictions can be accommodated)

  • Placenta fully dehydrated at 145 degrees

  • Dehydration takes approx. 6-9 hours

  • The Gentle method offers a very gradual energy and hormone release. This method yields the least number of capsules due to steaming beforehand.

  • Due to the high dehydration temperature, there is greater protection against bacteria.

  • Average yield: 138 capsules*

*Total yield varies based on size and health of placenta.

Placenta Encapsulation Packages

Encapsulation packages can be combined with any of the à la carte services listed below!

A la carte Encapsulation Options

Placenta Tinctures - 2 ounces
Tinctures are meant for energy, transition, stress, hormone stabilization and are therefore great for returning cycles and menopause. The tincture is made from a thumbnail size piece of raw placenta and 100-150 proof vodka or brandy (you choose!!!), aged for 6 weeks postpartum and then strained. It is stored in a dark colored glass dropper bottle. Gluten free alcohol available upon request. (Sometimes tinctures need to be made with steamed or dehydrated placenta)

Placenta Salve - 4 ounces
Salves are used to heal C-section incisions after the wound has closed. They also lessen scarring, itching and discomfort. Salves can be used postpartum for hemorrhoids, tearing, cracked and sore nipples, burns, eczema, diaper rash, sun burns, and skin irritation. They’re safe for all ages if there are no skin allergies.

Placenta Chocolates - 14 chocolates

Tired of taking placenta capsules? Want a chocolate snack you don't have to share? Placenta chocolates are here for you! Dehydrated and ground placenta is placed into chocolate. Each chocolate will replace one capsule. Ingredients such as nuts, coconut flakes, & sea salt can be added.
I can turn capsules made by someone else into chocolates. Just ship them to me!

Placenta Dough Balls - 16 dough balls

More sweet treats you won't have to share! These are a wonderful treat to replace a capsule. Dehydrated and ground placenta is added to each dough ball. These can be chocolate chip, birthday cake, brownie batter or cookies and cream. Dough balls can be frozen for 60 days.

Placenta Lollipops - 12 lollipops

If you'd like a treat other than chocolate, these placenta lollipops are a great option. Dehydrated and ground placenta is added with ingredients to make a hard candy sucker.

I can turn capsules made by someone else into lollipops. Just ship them to me!

Placenta Smoothie - 8 smoothie cubes
A small piece of raw placenta is placed in a blender with your choice of coconut water or filtered water and then frozen into cubes. These cubes can be blended with your choice of organic fruits, veggies, juice and yogurt. Smoothies are very helpful for the first couple of days after delivery because they give a quick boost of energy which you'll desperately need, especially after a long labor. They’re raw so they’re more potent and effective. The best part: YOU CAN’T TASTE THE PLACENTA!!

Framed Cord Keepsake

A beautiful way to display your baby's unique keepsake. I place the dehydrated cord keepsake into a gorgeous shadow box which can be displayed in your baby's nursery.
